Frequently Asked Questions
I’m interested in Musical Theater. Is this the right program for me?
Absolutely! Acting is the base of all performance. In today’s entertainment industry, you have the ability to seamlessly transition from Broadway to television to commercial work. Learning the basic foundation of acting will allow you to have a better understanding of how to handle any material you are given. Also, all classes will have a heavy emphasis on the technique of acting a song. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to enroll in special masterclasses with other current Broadway professionals.
Is The Collective just for students who want to act professionally ?
Absolutely not! While we do offer a pre-professional program - Our core programs and single classes are courses that are specifically designed for students who enjoy being on stage and want to enhance their performance skills while having fun.
What are the other benefits of being a student of The Collective?
Acting is all about self expression. Having the tools to express yourself authentically will improve your confidence in public speaking, promote professionalism, and the ability to creatively think outside of the box.
I want to take acting lessons, but I’m nervous about acting in front of a group.
Exploring acting is a vulnerable process. The Collective is all about small class sizes (6-8 students) to promote individual attention, time, and space to feel safe. This program isn’t about comparing yourself to other actors or “getting it right”, it’s about honesty and being encouraged to make mistakes and growing from them.
